How to Check a Property Agent's Licence in Kuwait

Kuwait's Ministry of Commerce and Industry runs the e-services for real estate brokers. Ask any agent for their registration or brokerage licence number, then confirm it directly with the ministry before you proceed.

Kuwait does not publish a single public lookup where you type an agent's name and instantly see a licence confirmed. The reliable route runs through Kuwait's Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI), which lists real estate brokerage among its official e-services, including a Real Estate Broker system and a separate Digital Portal for Real Estate Management. Before engaging any agent, ask for their registration or brokerage licence number and confirm it directly with the ministry rather than taking their word for it.

What MOCI's real estate e-services cover

MOCI lists practicing the profession of land and real estate brokerage among its official services, alongside the Digital Portal for Real Estate Management. These are the ministry's own systems for the sector, and they are the starting point for checking any claim an agent or company makes about being licensed.

What to ask the agent or company for

An independent Kuwait property guide published in July 2026 recommends that buyers ask a company for its registration number or the real estate brokerage licence issued by MOCI, then confirm those details directly with the ministry rather than accepting the company's own statement.

  • The broker or agent's full name, as it should appear on official records
  • The company's registered name
  • The registration or brokerage licence number itself

Why matching a name to the licence number matters

According to the same independent guide, the agent's name, the company's name and the registration or licence number should all be compared against what MOCI confirms. Seeing a general commercial trade licence is not the same as confirming a real estate brokerage licence, and the two should not be treated interchangeably.

What the available record does not tell you

Even after names and numbers appear to match, MOCI's service listings do not on their own state whether a licence is currently active, how long it remains valid, or which categories of property it covers. Confirm these specific points directly with the ministry before relying on any advertisement or verbal assurance.

If a company can't or won't share licence details

If a company cannot produce a brokerage licence number or registration details, or declines to provide them, treat that as a signal to pause. The independent guide advises verifying with MOCI before any agreement or payment moves forward.
